Everyone gets rejected at some point in their lives. Some people will never admit it, but they are keeping a secret to save their confidence. Other people feel like they get rejected all the time. If they take a closer look at their lives, they will find they have some people or/and things to be grateful for.
Life Tools
All our lives that are things we wish for. Why? Because those things look golden and exciting. Maybe we have a dream or vision of what we want to do. That doesn’t mean we will be doing those things for an entire lifetime.
When we’re growing up, we tryout for a sports, musical groups, or for a play. Sometimes we make it. Sometimes not. Even if you are chosen for your desired activity, even though you are filled with excitement, time will test things out for you. You tried it but like the wrong size of clothes, it may not fit just right.
Life is all about you having choices. If what you’ve chosen doesn’t fit, you can adjust what you want or go after something that fits you better.
Rejection teaches us that we can adjust what we truly want or there is something better around the corner. It teaches us not to settle. Don’t be sad or mad you didn’t get something. Maybe what look golden and exciting, really wasn’t. There is something else down the road.
Writing Tools
Writers submit their work to be published. I’m going to tell you the truth about rejection letters/emails.
Issues beyond your control: An editor or junior editor or editor intern will reject something for several reasons. They are sick and putting rejection emails on all the emails. Yes, it happens. They are having a hard day and are doing the same thing. You wrote a clown story and they just accepted a clown story, therefore all incoming clown stories get rejected. Unless they are doing a clown edition, they only have room for one.
Technical issues: Your story/book may not be starting in the right place. You may have lost energy and action in the middle (also known as saggy middle). You may not have an ending or the ending doesn’t make sense. Hopefully your book/story/chapter/amount requested for submission is not filled with misspellings or grammatical errors. These are all reasons a work can get rejected. Think about editing at least ten times completely through and also get another pair of eyes on your work, preferably another editor. Never send out first drafts.
The sad part and the part that makes most writers sad and doubting themselves is these rejection notes usually don’t tell you why it was rejected. Why? Time is not on the editors’ side. Being an Associate Editor and now a First Reader for a magazine, the amount of submissions we get is daunting. And everything has to be read by a certain time.
So what does Rejection mean to a writer. It means you are being tested. Is it an issue beyond your control? Are there technical issues you can fix? As you get better as a writer, you get better with rejection. You may not realize it but it’s true. You get rejected and move on to the next publisher/editor. You never know when that door will open, when your book or story will be the perfect fit for that publisher.
So a rejection email doesn’t really hold a lot of weight with you except to say, “Move on.” 99% of them won’t tell you what you did wrong. It could just be a bad day for the recipient. Move on! It’s not worth your time and energy in being mad or sad. Get busy writing again if that’s what you want to do.
On the off chance you get one that gives suggestions for how to fix it and then resubmit, THAT IS AN INVITATION! Immediately fix it according to all the suggestions and resend immediately. Be sure to say you were asked to resubmit! There’s a door opening!

Applaud your courage in life. Be the adventurer! Cherish the people who love and support you. And whatever you do, forget about the rejections!
I put The Stormy Love Life of Laura Cordelais at the top of this post, because it was rejected by a major publisher but in a weird way. I submitted it and got a email back saying my submission was received. Nothing else. In the meantime, I decided I would take a closer look at the contracts that publisher had their authors sign. There were some items I did not like. So I sent another email saying that I was withdrawing it from their consideration as of this date.
I submitted it to another publisher, the editor-in-chief called me back. They loved it and wanted to publish it. They would be sending me a contract and I could call them with any questions.
Nine months later, The Stormy Love Life of Laura Cordelais was published. Three months after that the first publisher sent me an email rejecting it. Remember how twelve months prior I had withdrawn it from their consideration?
Whatever you choose to do in life, have fun, be kind to others, and don’t let rejections get you down. They are like the hurdles in the way of a runner. Leap over them.

When this tale came to mind, the story of David & Laura dwelt on the edges of my dreams. I had seen the story in my mind but not all the pieces, so I waited for the dreams to unfold. When they did, it came in a rush night after night.
Unlike most things I write, the entire tale came in on the border of novelette and novella size. It was small and I usually write larger books. I like most had bought into the myth that big means powerful. Not necessarily. Sometimes we have a lot to say. Other times we get a huge message across with only a few words. For example, quotes are usually a few words. They are more memorable that way. People will remember a few words longer.
Outside of writing, our conversations are a mixture of short and long sentences. We tend to remember the short sentences. I think it’s a matter of the brain’s convenience. Storytellers and Shakespearean actors tend to remember long paragraphs.
Importance of a word or phrase further prints it indelibly on our brains. I have forever remembered things like “the road less traveled” which is in a poem written by Robert Frost called The Road Not Taken.
I chose to talked about David & Laura because it focuses on a specific moment in time and how much can happen in such a short time. Arnhem Knights are vampire knights who swear their allegiance to King Max and take the oath to save humans from death by vampire and to assist supernaturals in need. The King doesn’t like interfering in human events, even though at times he does. This book not only gives you an insight into the vampire world of my books but shows two knights that take the road less traveled.
Power has nothing to do with size! Power has to do with imagination! Power becomes glorious when it is linked with love!

Capricorn: Vampires occasionally choose a home for an extended stay. Make your home what you dreamed it could be, but watch your budget.
Aquarius: Shapeshifters are very adaptable especially when it come to keep a budget. See where you can cut spending. Important purchases are coming down the pipe.
Pisces: Dragons are emotional creatures. They know giving compliments can make a person feel good. This good be a wise choice for you.

Today we’re going to discuss the physical expressions of love. In Romance Writing, there are three: Sweet Romance (no sex), Steamy or Sexy Romance (sex but usually in the context of an enduring love), and Erotic Romance. For Readers, this should clear up the categories of romance books.
Sweet Romance
Sweet Romance novels are usually all about the courtship, the gestures, the love tokens, and the getting to know each other without sex. There is hand holding, hugs, and kisses. Even if circumstances happen that they should spend the night together, nothing sexual happens.
Most Regency-era historical romance novels have the wedding and the couple disappearing into the bedroom–end of book. The reader doesn’t see what’s going on behind that door. Georgette Heyer is great example of historical sweet romance.
Among modern-day books, EverWarm and EverNight are great examples of paranormal adventure sweet romance/fantasy adventure romance. If you love dragons, Lady Fallon’s Dragons is another of my books that meets the sweet romance definition.
Sexy or Steamy Romance
I also write what is considered sexy/steamy romance because the couples in my books do have evolving relationships that include sex. They are all in loving enduring relationships. In my books, I do write somewhat explicit scenes. Because of that at conventions, I have carded teens who wanted to buy my steamy books. I say for 18+ only. A great example of one of my steamy books is Vampire King of New York. One reviewer said that King Max was quirky. I say that Max is very individual and fun! On occasion even funny but he is always memorable!
I have over 13 books now and 10 of them are sexy/steamy.
Because I write paranormal adventure romance/fantasy adventure romance, the adventure plays a huge part in my books. I only write Happily Ever After tales of romance, because that’s how I am. In my books, the couple even if they don’t start off well together, when danger and/or destruction threatens their city, country, or world, they must find a way to save it together.
Erotic Romance

Virgo: Vampires love gentle nights. There are a lot more walkers taking in the night air and stars. Romance may be coming your way.
Libra Hellhounds are howling. They can be placated by hotdogs! Spend more time at home and cozy up your place with some flowers.
Scorpio: Mermaids sing and dance in the waves. Time to plan a vacation!
Sagittarius: Werewolves love a good game of catch! Head for the gym. Are there any teams forming? Pickleball, perhaps?

One of the things I like to do for the family either before Easter or on Easter is to put on an Egg Hunt and various games.
This is a photo of near the end of the hunt. I forget how many eggs I put together. I put initials on them so the youngest can get the same amount. When it’s done, we all sit in the living room and the kids empty the candy into their bags and give me the empty plastic eggs.
Then they get their Easter Baskets.
After that we play games with prizes. 1. Pin the tail on the Bunny 2. A corn hole game where you throw the bean bag into a hole. Each hole has points you earn. 3. On the other side of the corn is a sort of dart board. You throw balls that self-fastener to board when they touch.
The grands got to pick toys. I had three bags of age-appropriate toys for them.
Then we watched Toy Story 2 before having a ham dinner with mashed potatoes, corn and peas, and biscuits. Dessert was a tiramisu cake and some rainbow cupcakes.
